Vineyard

Our Secret Ingredient

Terroir – Our sandy loam soils nourish our vines which started as cuttings from the famed Chateau Beaucastel in Chateauneuf du Pape, France.  Our estate 18 acre vineyard property is meticulously maintained by our vineyard crew, pruning just before bud break, shoot thinning, leaf removal and crop thinning at verasion.  Our warm summer days and cool evenings balance the temperatures while encouraging ripeness.

The Delta Breeze

The Lodi wine region is known for some very warm summer days, but the Delta Breeze kicks in during the evenings, cooling down the grapes. Our warm days help to ripen the grapes and the Delta Breeze prevents them from overheating during the summer.

Lady Acquiesce Vineyard

Founded in 2008, our estate vineyard began with French clones of Grenache Blanc and Grenache Noir followed by Roussanne, Viognier, Picpoul Blanc and more Grenache Blanc in 2009. Due to customer demand, more plantings in 2015 included new varietals Clairette Blanche and Bourboulenc. Acquiesce Vineyard was the first vineyard to plant Bourboulenc in the United States.  Our focus is on regenerative farming by planting a yearly cover crop and bringing sheep into the vineyard.

Farming Philosophy

At Acquiesce Winery, the artistry of crafting exceptional wines goes hand-in-hand with a deep commitment to land stewardship. To showcase the best qualities of Lodi terroir and carry on the tradition of Acquiesce, our farming philosophy prioritizes soil health and the ecosystem. Our approach comes from a holistic perspective that utilizes and enhances natural systems already in place. This includes a focus on cover cropping, composting, animal integration, and worker welfare. Among the many other benefits, these crucial factors enhance biodiversity above ground but equally below ground. With soil microbiology at the foundation of a healthy, resilient vineyard, keeping the ground covered year-round is paramount. These elements together will give our vineyard the tools it needs to persist for many generations to come.
